Black dog Forest

Oil paint on canvas

‘A black dog followed me one day as i went on my walk.

He didn’t want to play, nor did i want to talk.

We walked abreast with equal stride along the river’s bank,

the dog and i, side by side until my thoughts were blank.

Dog sat down, so did i, upon the blue-green grass,

and a forest grew around us, mirrored in the water’s glass.

I turned to dog but he was gone; just me and i were there.

My black dog were my thoughts alone, and turned back into Air.

Nowhere to be seen, but always everywhere.
